herbarium (after Flora de filipinas)

Herbarium reflects on how plant life is enmeshed with identity and place. The series reconfigures 19th century botanical illustrations that visualized the scientific survey of plant life by colonial botanists in the Philippines. The cyanotypes reproduce and amalgamate the plant illustrations, layering colonial histories of extraction with photographic processes tied to scientific imaging and feminist authorship.

Featured in solo exhibition Every Surface Is a Shrine (Art Gallery at Evergreen, Coquitlam, 2026).
